Albert Workman

August 11, 1924 — March 26, 2012

Albert ("Bud") Edward Workman, age 87, passed away on March 26, 2012 at his home in Boulder City, Nevada surrounded by his family whom he loved very much. Albert was born August 11, 1924 in Newark, Ohio to Albert and Mary Scott Workman. July 30, 1949 he married Dorothy Irene Hemmerly whom he met while attending Ohio State University. They were married for 63 years.

He was employed by Unocal who transferred him to California in 1970 from where he retired in 1986. Albert also attended Reno Fire Protection Academy where he certified in Flammable Liquids Fire Protection.

Albert served his country during WWII in the United States Army with the 566th (HM) tank ordnance as an artillery mechanic and received two bronze medals.

Albert was a member of the Elks and N.A.P.E. He was very active in the Boys Scouts for many years. He loved his family, adventures, read everything and music. He sang many years in St Francis de Sales men's choir.

Albert is survived by his wife, Dorothy Workman of Boulder City, Nevada; four children; Linda Hart of Moreno Valley, CA, Susan Plaskey of Springfield, Oregon, Steven Workman of Kenai, Alaska, and Lisa Gibson of Boulder City, Nevada; a sister Sally Hitt of Keystone Heights, Florida, and a brother Mike Workman of Newark, Ohio; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dick Workman; two sisters; Joan Harris and Nancy Ghiloni.

A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday April 11, 2012 at 7:00 pm at St. Andrews Catholic Church. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday April 11, 2012 at 12:40 pm at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Nathan Adelson Hospice; 4131 Swenson St., Las Vegas, Nevada 89119.
