Gretchen Gephart passed away on February 20, 2025 at Highland Manner from a composite of senior maladies. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis as Valedictorian and from The University of Minnesota with degrees of M.S. in Public Health and Nursing Education.
She was active in Sigma Theta Tau and the 99ers, an organization of women pilots that ferried airplanes to England during WWII. They also sponsored the Power Puff Derby.
A high point in her life was winning a Cessna aircraft under the auspices if AOPA, she reveled in being able to travel at the drop of a hat.
While working overseas, she learned to fly a sail plane, sky dive, and snow ski.
Other work included writing and rolling-over federal Grants for community mental health and detoxing drug addicts. Other writing included a training manual for indian health services under federal and naval medical directors.
Post graduation Education was done at USC and Santa Monica. Its purpose was to develop an out-reach program in mental health for professionals in Southern California.
The goal for her life was to be useful the others and render service to others under the ‘Do unto others’ premise. She lived this philosophy.
There are no immediate Family members, only genuine friends that made her declining years comfortable’
She was preceded in her death by her husband, Walter, and a son Matthew Dean, while serving in Vietnam.
Services will be held at the Mesquite United Methodist Church on March 22, at 1:00PM. Fellowship will follow the service. An online memorial guestbook is available at www.starmortuary.com
