Alice Dubinski

Alice Dubinski passed away on Oct. 5th, 2013. This world lost a wife, mother, citizen, humanitarian and a giving and caring soul that we will remember as long as we live. Alice Mellesky was born on Jan.12, 1924 in Jenners, PA - a coal mining town. She was the youngest of five siblings and grew up in very humble surroundings. Alice displayed an enthusiasm for life from a very early age - always exuding optimism and personality to rise above any circumstance.

She married USAF Capt. Charles Dubinski on May 20th, 1943 and began a 63 year successful relationship that serves as a model for contemporary couples. Optimism, hard work and generosity were the guiding values that Alice and Charles lived by. All who came in contact with them benefitted from the experience. Alice's close friends and people whose lives she touched number in the hundreds. Most of her adult life was spent in Warren, Ohio where she and Charles raised their son Mariano Longo and were surrounded by their familes and accumulated numerous lifelong friends.

Alice was employed on and off during her life; as an office worker, in the Howland H.S.school cafeteria, and as a Catechism teacher at St. Josephs in Warren, Ohio. Mostly, her time was spent caring for people in need. She was the usually the last person in the room tending to many a dying relative or friend.

After living 45 years in NE Ohio, Alice and Chuck moved to Nevada in 1999 to join their son in Las Vegas. They quickly became endeared friends to everyone they met. Alice really enjoyed the lifestyle, and penny slots in Las Vegas. She attended many of the shows , and knew most of the performers in the Nevada entertainment scene. As always, her natural empathy for people guaranteed a busy social life.

Her husband Charles passed 2 years before her at 94 years old. Alice soldiered on, turning her attention to grandson Charles and her many friends. She continued to help people right up to the end of her own life. Because of her unfailing compassion, I believe God gave her a "Golden Parachute" - outliving all her relatives and peers, and remaining mentally sharp till the very end.

There is no replacement for a strong and loving mother - individually or in society. I, and everyone she touched, will always treasure her memory and our time shared together. son - Mariano Longo, daughter-in-law Tina Longo, grandson - Charles Longo, (adopted daughters) Patricia DeConcilis, & Joan Kinder, nieces Darlene (Scott) Burns, Esther Litton, and Mary Natale, and family members and friends too numerous to mention at this writing.

Services will be held Tues. Oct. 29th at 12:30 p.m. the Southern Nevada Veteran's Memorial cemetery - 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, in Boulder City, NV. Arrangements handled by Boulder City Family Mortuary.
