Alice Therien

Alice Marie Therien, born July 16, 1936, of Boulder City, NV passed away surrounded by her family, Tuesday November 7, 2017.  Alice was employed at Harrah’s Las Vegas for 20 years as a Change Carousel Attendant.  She also served as employee union advocate, a founding member of Sunshine Club and started the employee newsletter.  After retirement Alice continued to stay busy working for Visiting Angels as an in-home health care provider and volunteer at the Boulder City Hospital in the longer-term care unit and the gift shop.  She was most recently actively involved as a volunteer with the Boulder City Senior Center. Alice was a member of the board of directors and the event committee where she was instrumental in coming up with ideas for parties and activities.  She was very proud of the award winning floats she helped create in the Boulder City parades. She participated and coordinated trunk or treat activities, ice cream socials, rock, roll and stroll, raffles and many other community events. At 81, Alice never stopped going and ran circles around most people who worked with her.  Alice was honored with the first ever humanitarian award 2017 by her friends and co-workers at the senior center.   Alice will be remembered for her beautiful blue eyes, endless spirit and energy and willingness to help others.   Many people may not remember what Alice said; they will however, always remember how she made them feel!!

Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years Roland Therien and son David Terhune.  She is survived by her daughters: Cheryl Terhune Honoré (Mario Honoré), Patrice Fiste (Jim), Michelle Therien (Mike Varner); her son Peter Therien (Tammy), 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and her cherished dogs Zorro and Spike.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 27, 2017 at Boulder City Family Mortuary, 833 Nevada Way #1 BC, NV, from 6pm to 8pm.  A celebration of life will be held November 28, 2017 at Faith Christian Church, 1100 Buchanan Blvd, BC, NV at 2pm followed by a reception at the Senior Center of Boulder City, 813 Arizona St. BC NV.  In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the Senior Center of Boulder City.
