Arlene Hess

Arlene Jean Hess, age 94, of Boulder City, NV passed away on August 22, 2014 to be reunited with the love of her life, Denny. They were married on August 23, 1940. Arlene was born on April 4, 1920 in Shoshone, Idaho to Emma Edith Coates and Wilfred Edward Keefer. She and Denny had lived in Las Vegas since 1964, moving to Boulder City in 1995. Arlene and her husband and sons had the great adventure of living in many areas of the western United States including Idaho, Wyoming, Oregon, Washington, California, Alaska and Nevada. She thoroughly enjoyed painting, wall papering and decorating each place until it felt like home. Arlene also had a wonderful talent for stitching large and intricate needlepoint canvases. She served in the Las Vegas Temple for 23 years and in the St. George Temple for 3 years. She loved her family and they were most important to her. The family sincerely thanks The Homestead of Boulder City for the compassionate care given to Arlene during the last 4 months of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; son, Terry; grandson, Steven Hess; and great-granddaughter, Caitlin Bird; and her sister, Louise. She is survived by sons, Mike; Greg (Linda); and Pat (Cyndi); daughter-in-law, Claire Hess; twenty grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 29, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with a visitation at 9:30 a.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 916 Fifth Street, Boulder City. Interment will be at Southern Nevada Veteran's Cemetery immediately following the service.
