Ashley Bill Anderson passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022, in Henderson, Nevada. He was 66 years old. He died from complications of diabetes and a heart attack, just after watching his Golden Knights Ice Hockey Team play and win a great game!
Ashley was a fun-loving kind of guy. He loved to tell jokes and pull pranks. He was known as the “Candy Man” at church because he always had candy to share with anyone that he would shake hands with. He loved his multi-colored VW Bug that had red dingle-balls glued along the top of the front window and riding around the bottom of Sunrise Mountain in his homemade Dune Buggy. He loved driving thru big puddles in the Subaru when it would flood in Las Vegas, but he would always stop to help pull others out that became stuck.
Ashley loved serving other people and would go help at the drop of a hat. He was a hardworking man and provided for his family, working for the Central Telephone Company and Clark County School District, until he retired. He was a Boy Scout Leader for many years and worked with lots of boys and watched them mature into great young men. Ashley was honored by receiving the Silver Beaver award for all of his self-less service with the Scouts. He also served many years as a leader for Young Women’s camps in our wards, putting up and taking down camps, cooking and just being a friendly face. He was one of their “Camp Dads” for the weeks that he spent with them on the mountains. He loved to cook with Dutch-Ovens. We will miss his great Peach Cobbler with 7-Up in the recipe! Ashley also served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a two-year mission in Tennessee, as a 19 year old, after he graduated from Rancho High School in 1973.
Ashley’s parents are George L. and Isabelle Dodge Anderson. He was a native of Las Vegas, even though he was born in St. George, Utah on April 4, 1955. He comes from a very loving family that includes his wife: Susan Petersen, whom he was married to on April 30, 1977 in the St. George, Utah LDS Temple; their children: Tisha and Charles Ackerman, Kendal and Courtney (Karr) Anderson, Joseph Anderson; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; siblings: Dennis Anderson, Neola Crossman, Caralee Leachman, Lynn Anderson, Albert Ashley Anderson (deceased); aunts, uncles, cousins. His parents built their family home on Linn Lane in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Ashley has many friends who have had the privilege of knowing and working with him. He would run into a friend almost everywhere he went in the Valley.
Ashley B., Ash, Shorty, Smashly, Bro, Unck, Umpah, Gramps, Dad will be missed by soooo many!
