In the early a.m. hours of Sunday January 21, 2018 Barbara Ann Choquette, 81, peacefully passed in her sleep in her home in Las Vegas, NV. Assisted by Infinity Hospice, Barbara was loved and cared for by her husband of 64 years, Bernard, 85, sons Kenneth and Kurtis, daughter-in-law Jennifer, grandsons David (24), Joshua (13), and Joey (11). Barbara Ann Jones, born August 9, 1936, daughter of Pastor Maon Jones and Betty Dietz, oldest of siblings: Clara, Linda, and Phillip ‘Randy’ Schultz, is also survived by extended family in the Las Vegas valley: Sandy and Tina Shultz, and very good friend Sandy Wright.
First and foremost, a frugal, dedicated, and devoted wife and mother, Barbara, was a great role model, the friend you turn to and want in your corner. During her early years in Chicago and Lake in the Hills, Illinois, accomplishments include: building a home from the ground up, raising a family, and operating her own taxi company. In latter years, Bernard and Barbara retired, traveling in an RV before settling in Las Vegas in 1989.
During her well-deserved Golden years, Barbara Ann Choquette, an excellent cook, enjoyed conversing on the phone, All My Children, BINGO!, card games like canasta, backgammon, and countless nights out for dinner and gambling, with her beloved husband Bernie, at Sam’s Town Gambling Hall in Las Vegas.
Barbara will be dearly missed. We thank the Lord for doing His work through her for the benefits of His Kingdom and for all who have been blessed. May she rest in Christ until we meet again.
The funeral service will be held on Monday January 29, 2018 at 8am at the Veterans Cemetery. We are allowed the use of the chapel at the cemetery from 8 to 8:40am. Following the service in the chapel, we will proceed to the gravesite for final committal.
