Ben Russell White, age 94, of Boulder City, NV, passed away on December 30, 2017 in Las Vegas, NV. He was the youngest of 12, born on September 24, 1923 in Russellville, AR to Exie and Samuel White. Ben has lived in the Las Vegas area since the early 1940’s.
Ben was of the Christian faith. He was a proud decorated WWII Army Veteran serving in the Philippines. He was a horseman and worked as a farrier shoeing many horses over the years as well as competing in horse shows and giving riding lessons to many of all ages. Ben also loved classic cars. He ran and operated a gas station/garage. He enjoyed working with his hands and was an excellent mechanic and carpenter. He worked for a cab company and also started the first cab company in North Las Vegas. His passion was in poetry; he had a knack for words and was very well read.
Ben is survived by three children; Celia Birdsong, Lynne Ayers and Jolene White; one grandchild; Damon Halverson and five great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings; Artie, Lawrence, Loma, Tillie, Lloyd, Frankie, Marie, Jack, Ola-Bo, Lillie and Clytis; and one grandchild.
Funeral Services and burial will be held on Thursday January 11, 2018 at 8:00 am at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery 1900 Buchanan Blvd BC, NV 89005. Family and friends can sign an online memorial guest book at www.bouldercityfamilymortuary.com
