Benjamin Woodbury

Benjamin Howard Woodbury, beloved son of Bruce and Rose Woodbury, passed away Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, surrounded by his adoring family. Benji was born Nov. 29, 1979, in Henderson. Though he came into this world with many disabilities, Benji possessed an exceptional ability to remind others of what matters most. Though, in his 35 years, he never learned to speak, his life spoke volumes about the value of the human soul. And, though he never grew to the full stature of a man, his giant spirit inspired others to grow in the ways of love, compassion, service and acceptance. A student in the special education program at Martha P. King Elementary School until the age of 22, Benji taught hundreds of fellow schoolchildren some of the most important lessons they will ever learn. Benji is survived by his parents, Bruce and Rose Woodbury; and his siblings, Rodney Woodbury (Leslie), Melissa Woodbury (Kenny Taylor), Wendy Randall (David), Rebecca Leavitt (Glen), Adam Woodbury (Danielle) and Ashley Peel (Jordan). Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 916 5th St., in Boulder City. Donations in Benji's memory may be made to Martha P. King Elementary School.
