Carl Harvey, 88, went home to be with the Lord, his Savior Jesus Christ, on
Sunday, April 23, 2023. He was born in Texas to Effie Wright Harvey and Carrel
Harvey. Carl had very fond childhood memories of growing up in Texas and would
speak often of his family there telling cute stories of his life as a boy. In 1953 he
married the love of his life, Angelina (Angie) Latino Harvey in Donaldsonville, LA.
He was a loving and devoted husband to Angie for 70 years, openly declaring his
love for her always. Carl is survived by his wife Angie Harvey and three of their
children: Karen (husband, Bob) Dale, Carl Harvey, and Carol Harvey. He is also
survived by his five grandchildren: Brittany, Nicholas, Paige, Brett and Kayla. Carl
is preceded in death by his son Thomas (Tommy) Harvey, and his two brothers,
Benny Harvey and George Harvey, both of Texas.
Carl was a kind and gentle man with a constant cheery disposition. He always had
a twinkle and a smile in his eyes. He possessed a grateful heart that never
complained. He was a hero to his family. The spouses of his children instantly
became his children too. He is affectionately known by his grandchildren and
great grandchildren as “Granddaddy” who always made time to be with them. He
knew how to make each one feel special and loved. He loved when visitors
would stop by and hospitality was part of his warm nature. When help of any
kind was needed, whether by family or friends, he eagerly made himself available.
He genuinely cared for people, loving them with a sincere heart. He was a joy to
those who spent time with him.
Carl enjoyed travel, adventure, gardening, fishing, and music. Carl was a welder
by trade. He took pleasure in working with his hands making porch swings, mail
boxes, bird houses, flag poles, barbecue pits and much more. His gift for welding
along with his creative mind enabled him to make many unique and wonderful
inventions. He lived a beautiful life.
Carl loved God with all his heart. His most prized earthly possession was his Bible.
In times of need Carl would say to his family that “in Jesus’ name” everything
would be alright, and his spoken faith brought peace to them. His testimony was
that God would answer in Jesus’ name, according to his love, mercy, goodness,
and perfect will for them.
Carl’s strong faith taught his family that what God says is true, that God keeps all
His promises, and that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone. His favorite Bible
passages are numerous, but there are a few that are marked on all of his family’s
hearts: Matthew 22:37, Psalm 23, Psalm 91, Psalm 103, Romans 10:9-13, Isaiah
45:2, and John 3:16.
Carl often prayed this Bible verse: “I love you God with all my heart, and with all
my soul, and with all my mind. I love you Lord,” from Matthew 22:37. We rejoice
that Carl’s faith is now sight (2 Corinthians 5:7) because he is in Heaven beholding
the face of God, his Savior Jesus Christ.
Carl will be dearly missed, precious, never forgotten, and cherished in the hearts
of his family forever.
Funeral services will be held in Donaldsonville, LA at a later date.
