Henderson, Nevada - Carolyn “Carol” Adele Mosher, a remarkable woman of diverse talents and a beloved matriarch, peacefully passed away on Monday, October 16th, 2023, at the age of 95, surrounded by her family at her daughter's home in Henderson, Nevada.
Born on September 19, 1928, in Ohio to her parents, Maurice Commerford and Carolyn Firth, Carolyn's journey through life was truly extraordinary. She married Robert Hardy in 1953, and later Ronald Mosher in September of 1964.
Carolyn's formative years were divided between Toledo, Ohio, and Belfast, Maine, where she developed a profound appreciation for art and learning—values she carried throughout her remarkable life. She excelled academically, obtaining her A.B. degree in Psychology from the Ivy League University of Pennsylvania in 1950. Her exceptional intelligence led to a prestigious position at MIT.
Not content with just one achievement, Carolyn continued her pursuit of knowledge, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Cleveland-Marshall Law School in 1969. She was the only woman in a class of men, a testament to her unwavering determination. A resident of Lake County, Ohio for over 65 years, she dedicated her career to practicing family law in Painesville and was later appointed a Common Pleas Court Judge by Governor Dick Celeste in 1984.
Carolyn possessed an array of incredible talents and interests. Her creative spirit found expression in playing the piano, cycling, tennis, skiing, pickleball, knitting, sewing, woodworking, weaving, painting, and traveling. She had a profound passion for classical music, ballet, opera, and was an avid reader.
Carolyn's kindness, authenticity, and zest for life endeared her to many. She touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her daughter, Tiffany Rios, and her sons, Charlie Hardy and David Hardy, along with six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Carolyn was preceded in death by her siblings, Edward Commerford, Spencer Commerford, and Dorothy Joyce Raab, as well as her daughter, Leslie Talbot, and her former husbands, Robert Hardy and Ronald Mosher.
A final farewell will be held as Carolyn's ashes are interred on December 2, 2023, in Minden, Nevada, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved sister.
