Carolyn Eleanor Thompson, 76, of Boulder City, NV and formerly of Tacoma, WA, passed away on August 19, 2014 in Las Vegas, NV. She was born on June 5, 1938 in Seattle, WA to Clarence and Josephine Nielsen. She married Martin Thompson on June 27, 1959 in Seattle. She cherished her family and was a wonderful mother and homemaker.
Carolyn had a strong faith and was a member and choir member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Boulder City. She volunteered her talents as a quilter and seamstress in making prayer shawls for those in need. She loved music, taught piano lessons for many years, and was a member of the Music Teachers Association. As an artist, she also enjoyed water color painting. She loved gatherings with family and friends and was always prepared to cook for a crowd.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Martin Thompson; three children, Donald (Marilyn) Thompson, Lois (Paul) Klouse, Robert (Lorraine) Thompson; brother, Jim (Carrie) Nielsen, sister, Janet (Steve) Lynch; and eight grandchildren: Evan, Aubrey and Braden Klouse, and Megan, Lynette, Elisa, Samuel, and Danielle Thompson.
Memorial mass will be held at St. Andrew's Catholic Community on Sept. 27 at 10 a.m. Final interment will be in the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
