January 18, 1943 — April 7, 2013

Casey Grant Van Meter, age 70 of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on April 7, 2013 after a battle with stomach cancer. He was born in Chicago, IL on January 18, 1943. He joined the United States Army and served from 1962 to 1964. He was stationed in Germany during his service. On January 27, 1989, he married Joyce Ann Hoskins. He had been married to Joyce for over twenty-five years.

In Texas, Casey worked as a chef on a ship most of his life. He moved to Las Vegas twenty years ago from Texas to pursue the "good life" that Las Vegas had to offer, the excitement of the casinos and a place which brings the best of all worlds together. During his free time, Casey enjoyed building model planes and collected war relics. Dogs, particularly Schnauzers, were another love of his and he had raised and kept seven of this breed during his lifetime.

Casey is survived by his wife Joyce , a daughter Stacy Van Meter; stepson Charles Eggleston; stepdaughter Ava Bookatz; two grandchildren Kayla Dawson and Coren Dawson. He was also survived by Butchie and Gypsy, his two beloved Schnauzers. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Boulder City Family Mortuary at 2:00 pm and burial will be at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
