Charles Kenny Leavitt, age 78, of Boulder City, NV moved on to his heavenly home on December 25, 2020. Charlie was born at home on August 24, 1942 in Las Vegas, NV on the “Old Stewart Ranch”, as he was proud to say, to Glen Henry Leavitt and Rachel Bowler Leavitt. He married Margaret Rose Leavitt “Peggy” on March 16, 1984 and were later sealed in the St. George Temple. Soon after their marriage they moved to Boulder City where they lived for 36 years.
Charlie started working as a parking attendant after high school and worked at many hotels on the Las Vegas Strip. After several years he was promoted to a front door supervisor. He decided to try his hand at something quite different and worked on the Virgin River Project as an Engineering Aide which became very useful when he later started his own business. At one point he was hired by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and became a Warrants Officer. After moving to Boulder City, he founded his own company, CKL Inc, as a general contractor. He enjoyed telling stories about the many projects he worked on in Boulder City. After retirement he and Peggy served a mission at the Mormon Handcart Historic Sites Mission in Martin’s Cove in Wyoming.
As a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Charlie had an unwavering testimony of Jesus Christ and served in many callings. He was passionate about his family and cherished the times he could spend with his large extended family, his children and grandchildren. He was a “Git-R-Done” type of guy, an avid golfer and felt blessed he could travel the world with Peggy.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Peggy Leavitt, and sons Michael Leavitt, Christopher Leavitt (Leanna), Glen Leavitt (Becky), and Charles Kelley Leavitt and eleven grandchildren. He is also survived by five siblings; Glenna Conger, Myrn Jennings, Patsy Metler, Benny Leavitt and Jack Leavitt. He is preceded in death by his parents, and four siblings; Lynn Leavitt, Ramola Fitzgerald, Irene Campbell, and Twyla Wilson.
Visitation will be held on January 2, 2021 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 916 5th Street from 9 to 11:30. Funeral services will follow at 12 noon with burial at the Boulder City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Boulder City Senior Center.
