Christine Greening

'Christine' Noreen Greening, 89, of Boulder City, NV passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 with her son James (Jim) K. Greening and daughter-in-law Judy Johnston by her side. She is also survived by her daughter Janice Roff, and three younger sisters, Reta Benhardt, Nell Rugg, and Janet Russell. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years.

She was born in Anthony, New Mexico on October 27, 1924 to John W. Tenney and Alice Nielsen Tenney, and grew up in Garcia, Mexico. She was the second oldest of seven children.

Christine always had a sense of adventure and as a young woman she moved to New York City to try her hand at modeling. After leaving New York City she made her way west and spent time working in Denver, CO and Santa Cruz, CA. She became a Harvey Girl and was assigned to work at the Bright Angle Lodge at the Grand Canyon.

Here she met Jack K. Greening and married him on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon on October 12, 1952. They settled in Phoenix, AZ where they adopted their two children. Their lives took them to many places including Santa Cruz, CA, Salt Lake City, UT, and Santa Barbara, CA.

Christine retired from the University of California Santa Barbara then moved to Boulder City, NV. She and her husband Jack spent many wonderful days going on adventures whether on the road with their trailer and beloved cat in tow crisscrossing the United States and North America or flying off to Australia and New Zealand.

Anyone who met Christine could not help but be infected by her generous and fun-loving spirit. She was always quick with a smile and had the ability to put people at ease.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Eldorado LDS Chapel; 1550 Buchanan Blvd., Boulder City, NV. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.
