Darrell Lynn Wright, our loving father, grandfather, brother, friend and neighbor left this world suddenly on March 8th, 2023, in Mesquite Nevada. He will be greatly missed and will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Darrell was born Sept. 28, 1945, to John Mecham Wright and Bonnie Lavon Nielson Wright. He grew up on the east side of Provo Utah, on his father’s dairy farm. As a boy, treasured time was also spent helping his grandfather herd sheep in strawberry valley and surrounding areas.
He married Peggy Sue Flemming, they made a home together in Springville, Ut. where they raised their two sons: Troy and Travis. Peggy and Darrell had a very active 47 years together, they loved to travel. They had owned and operated the Springville Liquor Store for 27 years, where they made many friends. Peggy preceded him in death May 25, 2013.
Darrell owned Wrightway Trucking, driving his own Dump truck, pup and trailer as an Independent lease Operator. He could drive anything and loved the opportunity to travel, and sight see all over the state of Utah. He delivered gravel, sand, dirt, and asphalt from many different quarries and plants. Darrell was known for his reputation of being a hardworking, dependable, and safe driver. He rarely turned down any offer to put him to work. He was sought out and top of the list for many of Utah's federal jobs.
He was a man of many talents who loved adventure. He worked very hard to provide for his family and always said "he worked to live not lived to work," it was just as important to him to make the time to visit, go-to lunch, take vacations and travel, spending quality time with his family and friends. He made friends easily, wherever he went, he quite enjoyed meeting new
and interesting people and Darrell was such a fun, interesting, wonderful character too, you couldn't help but love him!! He always said, “he never met a stranger” and so many of those “strangers” became cherished friendships with him.
Darrell loved his mesquite community; he made many friends through the years. He loved being able to get out of Dodge when winter came, he would escape to Mesquite to stay warm he didn't like to be cold and he loved riding with friends in the side by side through the desert. He knew the desert better than anyone and his keen sense of direction was amazing, he was often asked to be the group guide. He took pride in making sure no one was left behind and everyone returned safely.
Darrell is survived by his friend and loving partner Chris Daywitt, his two sons; Troy, and Travis (Lavon), Grandchildren; Beau, Kortni, Dallas, Bailey, and Trevor. Siblings; David John Wright, Brent Charles Wright, Robert Nielson Wright, Laurie Ann and Jay Montgomery, Christina Kay Lott. He was preceded in death by his parents John Mecham Wright and Bonnie Nielson Wright, his wife Peggy Sue Wright, and Sister in-law's; Jennean and Cathy. A private gathering for family and friends will be announced and held at a later date.
