Mesquite

David Jensen King, age 84, died peacefully at his home in Mesquite, Nevada, on November 15, 2023.  He was born February 1, 1939, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Walter Albert (Bob) King and Genevieve (Teddy) Jensen King.  He was the second of their three sons.  Dave grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah where he graduated from South High and lettered in baseball.  He later met and married the love of his life Janice Adele Bradley in Elko, Nevada in 1958.  They were married after knowing each other for only 3 days. After 20 years, their marriage was solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple. They would have celebrated their 65th anniversary on November 23rd.  Dave and Jan are the parents of three children.

Dave was an avid sports fan and an active participant in many sports for over seven decades.  When he was 12 years old he was chosen to play on a Little League baseball all-star team from Salt Lake that played in the Regional Championship game in California and lost to San Bernardino who went on to the Little League World Series in Williamsport. Later in life he played softball, golf and racquetball, but enjoyed all sports.  He also enjoyed coaching many youth sports teams that his children played on.  He participated in the Huntsman World Senior Games in St. George, Utah for over twenty years in softball. He traveled all over the country to attend Major League Baseball World Series games.  His favorite team was the Boston Red Sox. He also was a fan of the University of Utah and the Utah Jazz.  He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many years of fishing on the Green River and in Alaska.

Dave worked for the Chevron corporation in many capacities over the years. He (and his son Tim) owned and operated two Chevron gas stations and convenience stores in Vernal and Roosevelt Utah.  After selling these stores, he moved to Mesquite, NV to retire but ended up managing a Chevron convenience store there.

Dave was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held various callings during his life.

Dave is survived by his loving and devoted wife of nearly sixty-five years and their children,

Shawn (Deanna), Tim (Melinda), and Kris (Dennis Loosli), 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his younger brother Steve (Mike) and sister-in-law Cherie.

Dave is preceded in death by his parents and his older brother Dennis.

Dave was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many.  He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.
