Dean Lee Stauffer, 93, a 21-year resident of Boulder City passed away surrounded by family on October 27, 2018. He was born October 2, 1925 in Nebraska to Marshall and Muriel Stauffer. His family subsequently moved to Belleville, Kansas. He proved to be a very good athlete in all sports. As a freshman, he was chosen to be a starter on the varsity basketball team at Belleville High. Dean enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II and served in the Pacific on a heavy cruiser, the USS Portland as Seaman 1st Class. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1946.
Dean married Evelyn Houdek in 1946 and they moved to Nebraska. Throughout the years, they owned various businesses, however farming in O’Neil, NE was what he came to enjoy.
Dean was preceded in death by Evelyn, his first wife of 62 years and his parents. He is survived by his second wife, Velma June Baldwin Stauffer; his two daughters Susan Stauffer and Debra Stauffer, both of Boulder City; sister Dorothy Simonds; step sons Mark Baldwin (Juanita), Curtis Baldwin (Beverly), Sidney Baldwin (Shelly); and nieces and nephews.
Dean was known for his deep love of family, his kindness, honesty, and integrity.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:40 am, Wednesday November 14, 2018 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive Boulder City, NV. Family and friends can sign an online memorial guestbook at www.bouldercityfamilymortuary.com
