Dinah Chaney, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on November 28, 2024, in Mesquite, Nevada. She was born on June 12, 1936, in Middlesex, England, to John Cooper and Mary Gilbert Cooper.Dinah grew up during the trials of World War II, a challenging time that shaped her remarkable resilience and resourcefulness—qualities that defined her throughout her life.At 20, Dinah met George Shuput, a U.S. Air Force member stationed in England. Their meeting marked the beginning of a bold new chapter. Inspired by love and adventure, Dinah decided to move to the United States to be with George, where they married and built a life together in Salt Lake City, Utah. They raised their two daughters, Gayle and Lisa, who were her greatest joys. Though Dinah and George later divorced, their shared commitment to family endured.

In 1978, Dinah found love again with Robert Chaney. They enjoyed 38 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2015.Dinah was a woman of many talents and passions. She had an innate sense of duty and responsibility, paired with a vibrant love for music and the arts. She played guitar, sang, and danced with heartfelt enthusiasm. She also found joy in books, movies, and games, always inspiring others with her creativity. In her later years, Dinah’s zest for life continued to shine. She was an active member of the Desert Dames, the Mesquite-Toes Dance Troupe, and the Red Hat Society, celebrating friendship, laughter, and sisterhood. Dinah leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and strength. She is survived by her daughter, Gayle Terry, along with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her three siblings, Carol, Susan, and Michael; her daughter Lisa; and her husbands, George Shuput and Robert Chaney. Dinah will be remembered as a woman of grace, determination, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. Her memory will be cherished, and her presence deeply missed. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Comfort Care Hospice and Beehive Home for their compassionate care. A celebration of Dinah’s life will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church, 830 Hafen Lane, Mesquite. All who knew and loved her are warmly invited to attend.
