Donald Louis Estes was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 15th, 2019. Donald peacefully departed this earth in the loving company if his wife of 55 years, LaVonne, and his daughter, Erin.
Donald was born in 1934 in Merryville, Louisiana to the late Pierce and Elsie Estes.
He was educated in Louisiana, where he eventually became an alumni and a
lifelong fan of LSU.
A visit to an old army friend led him to Nevada, where he found himself drawn to the
desert landscape that became his new home. While teaching school in
Nevada, he met the woman that he described as “the best woman I ever met.”
Lavonne Brown married Donald on August 28, 1964.
Donald and LaVonne raised their children and continued their teaching careers in the small
town of Boulder City, Nevada. Donald was known by all as Mr. Estes, and
was the subject of many tall tales and legends among the junior high school
students that sat in his classrooms over the years. He found great joy in
later years listening to his former students talk about the impact he had had
on their lives. His love for teaching was only matched by his love for fishing,
although both paled in comparison to the great love he had for the
Lord.
Doanld is survived by his wife, LaVonne, and four children, Derek(Mavy), Erin
Valencia(Eliab) Kirk(Kristin) and Scott(Alicia), as well as 12 grandchildren
and his sister Sibyl.
