Donald "Scotty" Scott, a devoted husband, father, U.S. Air Force veteran, and longtime American Airlines pilot, passed away peacefully at his home in Henderson, NV on February 5, 2025, at the age of 95.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Connie Scott. He is survived by his beloved wife, Karla Scott. They shared nearly 50 wonderful years of marriage and would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this May. He is also survived by his children: Mark "Scotty" Scott and his wife Pauline, Claire Cheadle and her husband Bruce, Karen Wahlert and her husband Fred, Jeff Scott and his wife Christine, Leslie Meyr and her husband David, and Matthew Scott and his wife Elissa. He also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and extended family who will cherish his memory.
Scotty’s passion for flying defined much of his life. After proudly serving as a Major in the United States Air Force, he continued his love of aviation as a commercial pilot for American Airlines, where he spent many years in the skies. His career and dedication to flight left a lasting impact on those who knew him.
Per his wishes, there will be no services. He will be laid to rest with full military honors at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, NV.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Scotty’s memory may make a donation to the Gary Sinise Foundation, supporting veterans and first responders.
His love of flying, deep commitment to family, and sharp sense of humor will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
