Donna Elaine Woodcock, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her daughter and son in law’s home, in Mesquite, NV. Donna was born February 24, 1929 in Haysprings, NE to Jay Leon and Dorothea Petersen Preble. She was the 6th of 8 children. She married Wayne Woodcock on June 29, 1946. They raised their two daughters; Delila Mathia and Lori Cantrell, in the Kansas City, MO area.
They were together 72 years until his death in 2018. After Wayne passed, Donna chose to start a new adventure and moved to Mesquite, NV, to live with Lori and Doyle. She loved looking out the window at the beautiful mountains.
Donna was an amazing seamstress and made most all of her daughter’s and husband’s clothes. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting and made many beautiful quilts and afghans.
She was very competitive and loved to play games. She was a master at Scrabble and Yahtzee and the Queen of Phase 10. She loved playing Word Chums on her tablet and especially enjoyed the CHATs with those she played with. An avid reader, she often read 2-3 books a week, a love she passed on to her daughters. Donna enjoyed watching Gunsmoke, Bonanza and good old Westerns.
Donna was above all, the best mother her two daughters could ever ask for and leaves many amazing memories for them to cherish.
She is survived by her daughter Delila Mathia, her daughter and son in law, Lori and Doyle Cantrell, grandson; Michael Mathia, granddaughter; Sarah Mathia, grandson; Matt Cantrell, grandson, Ben Cantrell and 3 great grandkids. She was preceded in death by her husband; Wayne Woodcock and her son in law; Bruce Mathia.
Per her wishes, there will be no services.
In lieu of flowers; the family suggests a contribution to a charity of choice, or a donation of a game, to a senior center of choice.
