Doris Gates

Doris Helen Gates, age 92 passed away on October 3, 2017 in Las Vegas , NV .  She was born on May 24, 1925 in Dallas TX to Lela and Colonel Clayton.  A true “Southern Belle”, Doris lived the life of a gentle, caring, and sweet woman until her passing.  Doris had a career lasting (32) years as an Executive Level Administrative Assistant with Hughes Aircraft – Aerospace Division in El Segundo, CA.

She married Carl Jesse Wilson on June 19, 1944 and began their loving and wonderful life adventure together.  They loved Square Dancing, performing in many competitions throughout the southwestern US throughout their life.  They traveled and visited many locations throughout the world seeing and exploring as many cultures as they could.  Doris was preceded in death by Carl in 1993.

Doris remarried Robert “Bob” Gates on October 22, 1996 and they resided in Mesa, AZ and Bayfield (Durango), CO for their time together.  Once again enjoying Square Dancing and traveling throughout the southwestern US.  Doris was preceded in death by Bob in 2007.

Doris lived her remaining years in Boulder City, NV remaining close to family until her passing. She enjoyed Lakers basketball, Dallas Cowboys football, brunches at the local casinos and playing nickels on video poker machines.

Doris is survived by her and Carl’s only daughter Dolores “Dee” (Paul) Waalkes of Boulder City, NV and two grandchildren Tammy Ottosen (Brandy) of Aurora, CO and Todd Ottosen of Irvine, CA.
