Dw Doyle Wilson

January 2, 1934 — July 28, 2020

Boulder City

Doyle Wayne “D.W.” Wilson, age 86, of Boulder City, Nevada, passed away on July  28, 2020 of natural causes.

The youngest of ten children, D.W. was born on January 2, 1934 in DeLeon, Texas to William Everett and Amanda Evelyn (Bellomy) Wilson. D.W. married Doris Belle Pringle on November 8, 1952 in DeLeon, Texas.

After working at Mrs. Baird’s Bread, in the oil fields, in a welding shop, as a Firefighter, and serving in the U.S. Army, D.W. and Doris moved from Midland, Texas to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1965 for a job at the Nevada Test Site. D.W.'s career as a Welding Inspector for the construction of power plants gave them the opportunity to live in many different states across the US, as well as the adventure of spending 1 1/2 years in Indonesia and 6 years in South Korea.

After retiring to their home-base of Las Vegas, D.W. and Doris moved to Boulder City in 2003 to be closer to their beloved grandchildren and enjoy their many school, sporting, and community activities, not to mention holidays and family celebrations.

D.W. loved cooking and creating new recipes inspired by his Texan roots and international travel. He often delivered homemade pies to his favorite people as thanks for their friendship and help.

D.W. sang and played his guitar every chance he could and enjoyed performing solo and with friends at the Southern NV Veterans Home and Senior Centers. His favorite music genres included “old”country, gospel, and bluegrass. Enjoy his music videos on YouTube at:

A near death experience in 1979 gave D.W. an unshakable belief in life after death. He was interested in holistic healthcare and practiced meditation and natural healing, largely based on the research of naturopath Dr. Hulda Clark.

D.W. was preceded in death by Doris, his beloved wife of 64 years, and a daughter, Sherri Lynn Wilson. He is survived by daughter Staci Leigh and son-in-law Timothy Lee Shattler, grandchildren Zachary Lee, Annabelle Leigh, and Tiffany Leigh, and many treasured nieces, nephews, and friends.

May we all aspire to live by D.W.’s guiding principle: “Leave it better than you found it.”
