Edd Evan Curry was born September 13, 1945 to Edd Houston Curry and Vida Hughes Curry, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and passed away Saturday, August 3, 2024 in Mesquite, Nevada.
Edd inherited a love for mischief and a knack for stirring up trouble. In 1968, he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Coe Ann Mitchell, who predeceased him in 2007 and a sister Connie Curry.
Edd leaves behind three children: Denna Michelle Bordelon, (Jay) of Keithville, Louisiana, Evan Mitchell Curry, (Lisa) of Greenwood, Louisiana and Edd Houston Curry of Mesquite, Nevada. He leaves behind five grandchildren: Kasha Kupisch, Evan Curry, Levi Curry, Cody Bordelon and Kirstyn Bordelon, who will undoubtedly carry on his legacy of chaos. In addition to four great-grandchildren, Edd is also survived by his sister, Mary Ella Horn, and his long-time companion, Valerie Butterworth.
After graduating from Virgin Valley High School in 1963, Edd somehow managed to survive a year of schooling at Dixie State College in St. George, Utah. Edd served his country proudly as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps during the Viet Nam War from 1965 - 1969. His fellow Marines will undoubtedly raise a glass in his honor, and perhaps share a few stories that are most likely not appropriate for this memorial. He then embarked on a successful career with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, where he undoubtedly added to their collection of amusing stories.
Edd loved being on the water and could be found indulging in his favorite hobbies of fishing, hunting, boating, water skiing or just floating around on Lake Mead soaking up the sunshine and listening to oldies. His adventures on the water were legendary and only occasionally ended with him needing to be rescued.
So here's to Edd Evan Curry, a man who lived life to the fullest and never met a challenge he wouldn't tackle head-on, regardless of the potential consequences. Rest in peace, Edd. And may your antics live on in the stories told by those who love you and knew you best.
