Edward Borkowski Jr

Edward Joseph Borkowski Jr, age 64 passed away at his home in Henderson, Nevada on April 20, 2012 surrounded by family. Edward was born on December 4, 1947 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey to Edward and Mildred Jorgensen Borkowski. Edward served a combat tour in the United States Army during Vietnam in the 101st Airborne, "Screaming Eagles". After his service to his country he went on to receive his Master's Degree in Education from Kent State University. He married Janet Laco on June 13, 1970 in Kent, Ohio and they moved and settled in Parma, Ohio. Edward worked as a math teacher at Pleasant Valley Junior High and then at Parma Sr. High School for 34 years. After school, he coached girls basketball, softball, and men's baseball. He was very loved and respected by his many students and players.

Edward had a strong faith and was a member of the Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Henderson. He was a member of the Legionnaires. He loved playing cards (especially pinochle), computer games, and sports including basketball, baseball, and bowling. He enjoyed teaching, coaching, and traveling through the United States.

Edward is survived by his wife Janet Borkowski of Henderson, NV; three children Wendy (John) Lincoln of Henderson, Craig (Mhyla) Borkowski of Henderson, NV, Brian (Missi) Borkowski of Columbus, OH; a brother Wayne (Chris) Borkowski; and four grandchildren Zoey, Cory, Brendan, and Alexander.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 9:00 am at Our Savior Lutheran Church 59 Lynn Lane, Henderson NV, with burial following at the Southern Nevada Veterans Cemetery at 10:40 am. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Eddie's honor to the Nevada Chapter of Disabled American Veterans, which is non-profit and 100% goes to helping vets.
