Emma Jeanne Harshman, age 84, of Boulder City, NV passed away on June 16, 2014. She was born on September 21, 1929 in Detroit, MI to Willard Budd and Margaret Wallace Budd. She spent her early childhood in Detroit and Allentown, PA. At a young age she started to play the piano and became an excellent pianist. She also enjoyed reading. She spent her teen years in Lima, OH and graduated from Lima Central High. She met Ray Harshman in her senior year and they were married on July 30, 1949 in Newport, Kentucky. A few years after they were married they started a new family with the addition of two children David and Mark. They joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and were later sealed as a family in the Manti Temple in July of 1953. They moved as a family to California in 1954 and lived there for a short period before returning to Ohio. Together they lived in a number of different places as they raised their family including Columbus, OH, Niagara Falls, NY, Mesa, AZ, and Newbury Park, CA. While in Mesa Jeanne got her real estate license and sold real estate. She was also very active in her children's education and served on many PTO and in many Boy Scout assignments. Jeanne enjoyed gardening and would can the food she grew. She was also very health cautious with what she ate and feed to her family. Jeanne and Ray separated for a period of time and during this time she lived in Las Vegas, NV, and Boulder City, NV. While living in Boulder City she became the Director for the Boulder City Bicentennial from 1975-76. She accomplished many things including overseeing the building of the big Gazebo in Bicentennial Park. After this she went on to work for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and had the opportunity to travel and see the world doing tradeshows and conventions. She also worked with the Roy Purcell Bridge of Peace with the Nevada Governor's Office. Ray and Jeanne got back together and lived in California and after Ray retired they moved back to Boulder City and ran a health food store. They sold the store and moved to Boulder UT in 1991 into a cabin they built. Jeanne was also very politically minded and was involved in the organization People for the USA to preserve freedoms of the American people. Jeanne described her life this way "My interest in reading, the arts, my music, community work, genealogy, church work, and promoting patriotism have kept me busy. Of course homemaking and my children were always first."
