Ernest "Ernie" Donald Jones, age 71, passed away at the Desert Springs Hospital, Las Vegas, NV, on August 8, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Cheryn "Chey" Jones, his children, Cory Jones and Caycee Jones Hamilton and son-in-law Jimmy Hamilton. Ernie cherished his family and always placed them first. He also devoted his life to public service. After graduating from High School in Coulee Dam WA, he served four years in the U.S. Navy, obtained a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice and worked as a mediator for the U.S. Department of Justice in Atlanta, GA. His public service continued after retirement in January 2005 when he worked part-time for FEMA in disaster areas such as the coastal areas of Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina. In 2013, Ernie and Chey began a new adventure in Boulder City, NV. He joined the Boulder City United Methodist Church in June 2014. Ernie had a wonderful sense of humor and he loved to fish and ride his motorcycle. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 15, 2014, at the Veterans Memorial Chapel in Boulder City, NV at 9:20 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Nevada SPCA (www.nevadaspca.org), a no kill animal sanctuary, as Ernie doted on his pets. Ernie was and is deeply loved by his wife, his twin son and daughter, and those that knew him well. He will be sorely missed. Rest peacefully Ernie, and know how honored the world was to have you in it.
