The magic of life is the forever glow of our memories. Florence Irene Saunders was born in Dewitt, Michigan to Carl Bailey and Hazel Irene Bailey on September 22, 1924 and she went home to our heavenly Father on September 21, 2020.
Florence was a vibrant little girl with two older brother’s Delbert and Virgil Bailey and her adoring parents until at the age of six her father who was a fireman that fell from a two story building while trying to save a lady. He was badly hurt.
Her mother sold everything, bought a trailer and moved the family to Arizona and then to Palm Springs, California for the warmer weather. Florence learned from an early age that life was a challenge and from that she learned strength and endurance. She was a beautiful woman and was voted first Queen of Palm Springs during her senior year. Soon after high school she met the love of her life, a handsome sailor, William Leport Saunders and got married. They moved to San Diego, California where they raised four daughters, Alice Galvin (Tim), Barbara Sharp (John), Catherine Vaccari (David) and Theresa Saunders. They had 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. Their retirement was full of exciting times as they enjoyed traveling and just being together. Her sweetheart of 72 years passed away on October 09, 2015. She will be greatly missed and forever loved.
Our family would like to thank the Prestige Assistant Living at Mira Loma and Compassion Care Hospice, for there unwavering kindness and care for our Mother. She will be laid to rest with her husband Bill on Thursday October 1, 2020 at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City. Due to the Covid-19 there will be no service at this time.
