Frank Douglas Mathews, age 88, of Boulder City, NV passed away on July 19, 2013. He was born on September 27, 1924 in Oroville, CA to Leon and Irene Mathews. He served his country during WWII with the United States Navy. He married Lois Bates on June, 6, 1953 in Las Vegas, NV. He graduated from University of Nevada Reno and later received his Master Degree from Cal State LA. During his teaching career he taught children at JD Smith School, Paradise Valley, Gordon McCaw, Robert L. Taylor, and Christian Center in Boulder City. He was an avid sports fan that loved the 49ers and UNR.
Frank is survived by his wife Lois Bates Mathews of Boulder City, NV; son Douglas Mathews of Lake Tahoe, NV; daughter Patricia (James) Smith of Loveland, CO; two grandchildren Susan (Allen) Whitenack, Michael (Jessica) Parkin; two step-grandchildren Ashley Smith, Kylen Smith; three great grandchildren Kaylee Rose Parkin, Stella Whitenack, and Brooke Parkin,
Memorial services with be held at Bethany Baptist Church 210 Wyoming Street, Boulder City on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 11:00am. Frank was laid to rest at the Boulder City Cemetery. Family and friends can sign an online memorial guestbook at www.bouldercityfamilymortuary.com .
