Gary Bunney passed away peacefully on May 8, 2017 in the presence of his loved ones. The youngest child of Rollie and Wilma Bunney, he was born in Franklin, NE on June 2, 1935. He attended school in Franklin and Omaha, and obtained a degree in Forestry at Colorado State University. After college, he served 2 years in the US Army, primarily in Germany, and in 1959, he married Diana Vezie from Los Angeles, CA.
He spent 36 years working for the National Park Service, retiring from Lake Mead National Recreation Area, and was privileged to work & raise his family in some of the most beautiful areas in the U.S. including Yosemite, Mount Rushmore, Lassen, and Glacier. He loved being active (boating, water/snow skiing, camping, fishing, traveling) and sharing this love with family and friends. He was an active member of the Las Vegas Ski Club for over 30 years.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and two older siblings, Rod and Janet. He is survived by his ex-wife, Diana Bunney, their three children (Laura Bunney, Lisa Swann, and Keith Bunney), his two grandchildren (Timothy and Sarah Swann), and his dear and special companion Kathy Bell, who explored both near and far corners of the world with him. He is now reunited with those that passed before, including Prinz, our beloved family German Shepherd.
There will be a private family service with no donations or flowers please. Family and friends can sign an online memorial guestbook at www.bouldercityfamilymortuary.com
