Gayle Knievel

Gayle Knievel (79) of Mesquite, NV passed away in her home with her faithful companion “Chester “ her dog by her side. 

Gayle was born April 21, 1945 to John A & Susie (Gorzalka) Jolovich & raised in Ranchester, Wyoming. She married Larry J Knievel February 23, 1963 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheridan, Wyoming. They raised their children in Ranchester next door to her parents. Larry & Gayle also raised their granddaughter in Riverton, Wyoming. 

They were actively looking for a warmer climate to semi-retire in when they happened upon Mesquite. They spent the night, got up the next morning & fell in love with the area. They bought 1 of only 3 homes currently for sale that day. 

Gayle loved Mesquite and with a true green thumb & her love of gardening/flowers created a beautiful oasis in her yard that she enjoyed immensely for many years. 

She lived her life dedicated to her Catholic faith, her family & was such a hard worker her entire life. She made some pretty cool career choices through the years ranging from a Cosmetologist to a “Tonka Truck Driver” to a fabulous school bus driver, to a logging truck driver and an over the road truck driver with Larry. 

Gayle is survived by her daughter Michelle & her husband Chad formerly of Mesquite. Her granddaughter Misty & her husband Josh Lange also formerly of Mesquite. She is also survived by a very large family of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, great nephews & nieces as well as 4 brother-in-laws and 5 sister-in-laws. She has family from all over the country. 

Gayle is preceded in death by her parents John A & Susie Jolovich, her brother John J Jolovich, the love of her life beloved husband Larry J Knievel, her daughter Lynn Knievel Bush and infant son “Little Larry” Knievel.

A viewing will be held for those wishing to visit with Gayle’s family on Friday, November 15, 2024 from 10 – 11:30AM at Star Mortuary 300 Riverside Road Mesquite, NV 89027. A Graveside will follow on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 12pm at Mesquite (Hardy Way) Cemetery, 1362 Hardy Way, Mesquite, NV 89027.
