In Loving Memory of Gloria Lavonne Mitchell
It is with heavy hearts that we remember Gloria Lavonne Mitchell, who passed away on January 16, 2025, at the age of 77. Gloria was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, whose life touched so many with her kindness, dedication, and vibrant spirit.
Born on March 21, 1947, in Miami, Arizona, to Leonard and Bessie Brown, Gloria grew up in Covina, California, where she graduated from Covina High School and later attended Mt. San Antonio College. She married Robert E. Mitchell on February 5, 1966, and together they built a life filled with love, adventure, and mutual support.
Gloria was not only a steadfast bookkeeper for her husband’s businesses but also played an active role in her community. She was known for her leadership and involvement, founding the Red Hats group in Boulder City and earning the title of Queen Mum. She served as President of the P.E.O. chapter for three years, and her passion for community service extended to her support of Pop Warner Football. A member of Grace Community Church and she sang in the Red Mountain Choir. Her love for Bridge, and her participation in the Las Vegas Corvette Club, were just a few of the many ways she connected with others.
Her family was at the center of her world. She is survived by her husband, Robert, their children Stacy and Kristin, her brother Babe, and a growing family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gloria was a loving matriarch, always ready with a smile, a kind word, and a listening ear.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Bessie, her sister Cosma, and her son Scott. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her, and she will be deeply missed.
A celebration of her life will be held on January 31, 2025, at 10:00 am at Grace Community Church, 1150 Wyoming St., Boulder City, Nevada, followed by a reception at the church hall. Interment will take place at Forest Lawn, Covina, California, at a later date.
May Gloria’s spirit continue to inspire us all, and may her family find peace and comfort in the love and memories she leaves behind.
