Gordon Alsum

August 13, 1933 — March 27, 2015

Alsum, Gordon Nelson, born in 1933, passed peacefully on March 27th with his loving second wife, JoAnne Patton by his side. Gordon is predeceased by his first wife Gertrude "Trudy" Rottschalk, and two sons, Charles and John. Gordon is survived by his son Lawrence (Karen) Alsum, four grandchildren, Jeannette, Leigha, Jason, and Krysta, and two sisters, Jeannette Doczema and Theresa Westra.

Gordon was born in Friesland, Wisconsin where, at a very young age, he learned to work the family cabbage farm. Upon graduation from high school in 1952, Gordon moved to Chicago to pursue an education in broadcast engineering. There he met his first true love Trudy and they married May 28, 1954. God blessed them with three lovely sons and 51 devoted years of marriage until she passed in August of 2005.

After several years in the U.S. Army, Gordon pursued his career in Broadcast Engineering. In 1969 a job opportunity arose in Las Vegas, Nevada and the family moved west. In 1983 Gordon started his own broadcast consulting business and was quite successful.

Gordon loved the Lord. He was a church member at several different churches throughout his life. He sang a beautiful baritone in the church choir. He loved his family, his church, his children, nature and life itself. He felt very blessed to have found a second true love later on in life and mentioned this often. Even after being impacted by Alzheimer's disease, Gordon was never cross but always thankful for the great life he lived.

We will miss his wonderful smile and winning ways.

Services will the held at Bethany Baptist Church, 210 Wyoming, Boulder City, NV, Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends can sign an online memorial guestbook at www.bouldercityfamilymortuary.com
