After school and a short time in Cedar City, Jacob and Barbara moved to Boulder City, where they have lived for 61 years. Jacob worked at Community Chevrolet. A few years later, they bought an old church house in Boulder City, and Jacob turned it into B & J Auto Body with the famous sign "We Occupy This Entire Building". B&J Auto Body is now a third-generation business.

Jacob was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings, including Bishop for eight years, Elders Quorum President, and Stake High Councilman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, dutch oven cooking, and reading Louis L'Amour books. He loved to spend time with his family and go to the cabin. He was a life member of the American Legion and was proud of his service to our country.
