James Milton Godbey was born on January 2, 1927 in Mancus, Colorado to Thomas Godbey and Erma Godbey. The family moved to Southern Nevada in June 1931 first living in a tent in Ragtown on the Colorado River. His family built the first privately owned home in Boulder City where he lived and grew up. He graduated from BCHS in 1944, then joined the U.S. Navy, serving until the end of WWII. Returning home he attended and graduated from UNR. Jim became an electrician with IBEW Local 357, a trade he had learned in the Navy. After retiring he enjoyed dancing and golfing nearly everyday and was excellent at both. He passed away peacefully at dawn June 5th at the Southern Nevada Veterans Home. Jim was a son, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and good friend. A Celebration Of Life with family and friends will be held on Sat,June 27th from 4-7 pm at 512 8th St, in Boulder City.
