Jay J Johnson, age 75, of Boulder City, NV passed away on January 22, 2016 in Las Vegas, NV. He was born on January 28, 1940 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota to Victor and Jessie Johnson. An only child, Jay, along with his forever love, Jan, and daughter Nicole, moved to Boulder City in 1984. Jay worked for Fisher Space Pen for more than 20 years and loved his job and poking fun at his colleagues.
A US Army veteran, he loved his country and served overseas. Jay enjoyed the outdoors; boating, water skiing, camping, and shooting guns. He was a member of the NRA and was a gun enthusiast. Making his own ammunition was a pastime that kept him busy. He loved to ride his Harley and travel. Jay always loved working with his hands and in recent years enjoyed designing, creating, and crafting unique pens. He and Jan recently moved across the street from their youngest grandchildren and Jay set up his hobby room so that he could watch the girls play out front. Frequent visits from his granddaughters gave him much joy and he became a child himself as he encouraged and participated in their antics. Annual visits from his son, Jay Jr. and Jay Jr.'s love, Tracy, brought him such delight. He was a member at Christ Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife Janice (together 42 years); children Nicole (Mark) Donadio, Jay (Tracy) Johnson Jr.; grandchildren Alexander, Austin, Andrew, Adam, Emily, and Stella. He was a lifelong dog lover and leaves behind his four legged sweetheart, Molly, and grand dogs Tucker and Dusty.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016, at Christ Lutheran Church at 10:00 AM on 1401 5th Street, Boulder City, NV 89005. Reception to follow at Evan's Old Town Grille from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Family and friends can sign an online memorial guestbook at www.bouldercityfamilymortuary.com.
