Jeannette Morgan Oyler completed her journey in this life on August 26, 2024, in Boulder City, Nevada. She was born on November 18, 1935, in Birmingham, England to Frederick C. Morgan and Phoebe Fleishman Morgan. Jean was very young when the family home was bombed in World War II. The family moved to Oxfordshire, where they lived at High Lodge on the grounds of Blenheim Palace. She spent the remainder of her youth there and went to school in Combe. Many people in the area knew of the Morgan Sisters and their lovely singing voices. In later years, she loved to visit her childhood home and the Oxford area with her extended family.
Jean enjoyed reading, Scrabble, crossword puzzles & yard sales. She always enjoyed a cup of English tea and never lost her beautiful English accent.
Jean married Francis Gerald Oyler (Jerry) in June of 1956 in Witney, England. They relocated to Benjamin Franklin Village, Mannheim-Kafertal, Germany, where Jerry was stationed in Heidelberg with the U.S. Army. They eventually moved to the United States, where Jerry was stationed at Fort McClellan, Alabama. In 1968 they transferred to Dugway Proving Grounds in Utah. Jean worked at Dugway as a secretary. They made many lifelong friends in the military who became like family to them. Jean continued to keep close contact with those friends. Jean became a U.S. citizen on February 21st, 1974.
Jerry retired from the military on August 31st 1973. In 1981, the family moved to Toquerville, Utah, then eventually to St. George. Jean worked at the Dixie Eye Center for many years, where she made more lifelong friends. Jean and Jerry purchased the “cabin” in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area in the early 1980s. Jean loved to spend time in the desert. She tried to go to the cabin as often as possible in recent years. She volunteered at the Senior Center Thrift Store in Overton, Nevada and made some dear friends while there.
Jean is preceded in death by her father Frederick, her beloved mother Phoebe, her dear sisters Pat Toynton and Shirley Featherstone, brothers Stanley Morgan, Phillip Morgan, and David Morgan.
