Jerald "Jerry" Clair Shattler, age 64 of Boulder City, Nevada, passed away on May 20, 2012 surrounded by his family. Jerry leaves a lasting, indelible imprint on the many lives he touched. He will be remembered as a man with infectious positive energy and an ever-present grin. A man with endless generosity who was always doing things for others. Whether it was handing out 50 cent pieces to the kids or sharing his love of 50s and 60s music, his focus always remained outward. Though he had many hobbies, his true passion was his family. He loved spending time with Pat, his wife of almost 30 years, and doting on his grandchildren and the other children in the family. He loved them and they loved him back in equal parts. Though he will be missed greatly, the family chooses to celebrate his life . . . a life well-lived.
Jerry would want his friends and family to know how grateful he is for the times he shared with them and the support they showed during his difficult battle. He is survived by his wife Patricia Shattler of Boulder City, NV; mother Gladys Chapek of Henderson, NV; daughter Amy (Doug) Schreiner of Kansas City, MO; two granddaughters: Alissa and Mallory; two brothers David (Yvonne) Shattler and Ron Shattler; sister Diane Blake; stepbrother Tom (Laurel) Diaz; stepsister Sandy (Jimmy) Wallace; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Howard Robert Shattler and sister Susan Diaz.
A celebration of Jerry's life will be held on Friday, June 8, 2012 at 11:20 a.m. at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to DAV, the Elks, or an organization of your choice in Jerry's name. The family invites you to sign an online memorial guestbook at www.bouldercityfamilymortuary.com.
