Joanne Louis Baer, age 78, passed away surrounded by her family on October 26, 2011 in Henderson, Nevada. Joanna was born on April 1, 1933 in Gettysburg, PA to Joel and Margaret Woodward.
In her youth she enjoyed going out on the battle fields and looking for Civil War mementos. She married Donald Baer, on May 21, 1955 in Ohio. Joanne was the first female insurance agent with All State Insurance Agency in Ohio. One of her passions in life was collecting antiques. She loved to go to the Estate Auctions with her husband looking for those special items. She ran an antique store in Ohio prior to moving to Boulder City, NV, after retiring in 1986. The passion continued and they opened their own antique store in Boulder City called the Roaring 20's Player Piano's and Antiques. They would restore old player pianos and sell antiques. They owned and operated the store from 1988 to 1995. Joanne was a loving wife who loved to be around family. She had a strong faith and was a member of the St Andrew's Catholic Community Her husband of 56 years feels being married to such a beautiful, talented, caring, and compassionate woman has truly made his life so meaningful. She gave so much of herself to make her family proud to have her as their wife, mother, and grandmother. She asked very little of everyone but gave so much of herself to make everyone happy. She truly deserves a special place in God's House. Their loss can never be expressed in words. They will always miss her sparkling eyes and loving smile. Only once in a life time will anyone find a person as special as her.
She will forever be in the hearts of her loving husband, Donald Baer, of Boulder City; Two daughters Lori (Jeff) Lott, and Teri Baer; preceded in death by daughter Patricia Sorvillo; four grandchildren, Taylor Lott, Jeff Lott, Joseph (Tracie) Sorvillo, and Daniel Sorvillo; two great grandchildren Isabella and Joey Sorvillo; sister Patricia (Dallas) Strait family of Greencastle, PA cousin Thomas O'Donnell of Glendale, AZ
