Joe Deardorff
February 20, 1911 — October 24, 2011
Joe Deardorff, 100, of Boulder City, left for his eternal home on October 24, 2011. Joe was born on February 20, 1911 in Calloway County, Missouri to Charlie and Lizzie Hendrix Deardorff. He married his childhood sweetheart, Grace Richardson on September 23, 1941. During their 64 years of marriage, they lived in California, Oregon, Alaska, North Carolina, and Florida before moving to Boulder City in 1999.
Joe served in the 302 Signal Battalion during WWII as a medical supply clerk and ambulance driver. During most of that time, he was just a few miles behind enemy lines.
Joe is survived by his daughter Jolene and son in law David Smalley of Boulder City, grandson Paul Smalley and his wife Jackie of Henderson, and a sister Mary Alice Coil and her husband Dick of Auxvasse, MO. His many nieces, nephews, and dear friends release him into the loving arms of Jesus and rejoice in having has the privilege of knowing and loving him.
A memorial celebration will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Henderson in November. Interment of ashes will be in Missouri at a later date.
