John Peterson

Captain John Edward Peterson of Boulder City passed away peacefully on August 30, 2013 at the age of 83. He was born on January 13, 1930 in Brownsville, PA to Edward and Mae Peterson. John served in the US Marines for 20 years, including tours in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He married Gloria Lee Savage in 1951 and had four children. After retiring from the military, he taught physics at Chapman College, grew pistachios at his home farm in Barstow, CA, and moved to Boulder City in 2000. John enjoyed playing bridge and 500, dancing, gardening, walking, and activities at the Boulder Senior Center. John was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion in Barstow, CA.

John was a fun loving husband, father and grandfather who fully embraced life. He will be greatly missed by his wife Gloria Peterson of Boulder City; four children Karen (David Pullman) Peterson of Mesa, CA, Debra Douglass-Moyer of Carlsbad, CA, John (Susan) Peterson Jr of Berkeley, CA, Christine (Mike Horgan) Peterson of Greenwood, IN, and twelve grandchildren.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 12:00 noon at St Andrews Catholic Community Church in Boulder City.
