Boulder City, Nevada Joseph J. Fazio, 80, loving husband, father and grandfather, formerly of St. Clair Shores, MI, passed away peacefully and went to the Lord, January 8th 2012 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born February 7, 1931 in Aultman, OH, the son of the late Basil and Verna (Dufala) Fazio. He was widowed twice. He is preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Marjorie (Coffman) who passed away in 1983 and his wife of 20 years, Patricia (Finazzo) who passed away in 2006. He served with the Marines during the early 1950's reaching the rank of sergeant. He achieved success as a bowler during the mid-to-late 1950's. He won back-to-back Motor Bowl championships in 1954 and 1955. He bowled professionally as an early member of the PBA and was a member of the Detroit Thunderbirds for the National Bowling League's inaugural and lone season in 1961. He worked as an engineer at General Motors for nearly 30 years before his 1993 retirement. He worked on the GM team that designed the MBT-70 tank during the 1960's in Germany and later worked in Administrative Services at GM's Tech Center in Warren, MI. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and spending time with his family. He was diagnosed with dementia in 2006.
He is survived by one sister, Rosemary Stroster (Eugene) of Michigan; two daughters, Cathy Pia (Domenic) of California and Lori West (Graham) of North Carolina; two sons, Joseph M. Fazio (Nicki) of Nevada and Brian Fazio (Cathleen) of Michigan; eight grandchildren, Alexandra and Stephanie Pia of California, Danielle Fazio of Nevada, Andrew, Sean-Ryan and Lindsay Fazio of Michigan and Matthew and Kelsey West of North Carolina; four step-children and many nieces, nephews and extended family members in Michigan and Ohio.
