Joyce Summerfield Hartig

Joyce Summerfield Hartig, 95, of Boulder City, passed away February 2, 2025. She was born November 15, 1929 in Lynbrook, Long Island, N.Y. to Margaret Murray Hopkins and William James Summerfield. Joyce will always be remembered for her radiance, outgoing personality, style and charm. She attended Andrew Jackson High School in St Albans, New York, and her first job was a clerical position with the ARAMCO (Arabian-American Oil Co.) in Manhattan. She later became a floral and bridal consultant. Joyce co-founded a popular senior bus tour company which offered many day and weekend trips throughout the Northeast, later offering longer trips to Florida and Europe. After moving to Boulder City in 1988, when she married Maj. Alfred Hartig, Jr., retired, she continued to live a rich life as an active member of Grace Community Church. She also was very honored and proud to be a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and The Daughters of the American Revolution. Joyce treasured her family above all.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Hartig, Jr., a brother, David Summerfiled, a stepson, Alfred Hartig III, and a stepdaughter, Barbara Brown. Joyce is survived by her sister Beverly Bencini, niece Debbie Engelhardt, husband John and son Scott; two sons, Scott Schick and Bill Summerfield and wife, Maria; stepsons, John Hartig and wife, Laurie and William "Bill" Hartig and wife, Rebecca; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Borski and husband, Robert; son in law, Ron Brown; daughter in law, Kate Simonson Hartig; 12 grandchildren, Sara Hogan, Katie Stawinsky, David Summerfield, Daniel Summerfield, Chris Brown, Katie Wells, Brad Borski, Kyle Borski, Andrew Hartig, Tara Gordon, Eric Hartig, and Nick Hartig, and 25 great-grandchildren.

Joyce will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery. At the family's request, no services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grace Community Church.
