Joyce Dale Holland, 74, went home to be with her Lord on September 1, 2012. She was a loving wife and devoted mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. Joyce was born and raised in Altoona, PA; graduated from Altoona High School and Abington Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Abington, PA; and subsequently spent 35 years in the Philadelphia, PA area, where she married Joseph Lannetti and raised her four children. She served as a nurse, Director of Nursing, and Nursing Home Administrator at several Philadelphia-area nursing homes and had a successful 15-year career as a Nursing Home Regional Director with Unicare Health Facilities. She later married her high school sweetheart, Bernard Holland, and relocated to Boulder City, NV, where she resided for the past 20 years. She developed a "Computerized Care Plan" software program for the elderly, was a member of and volunteer leader at Faith Christian Church and was the former Director of Nursing (and subsequent volunteer) at Boulder City Hospital (Long Term Care), where she was cared for by dear friends and former colleagues during her last days. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Glorie Schmelzlen.
Left to cherish her memory are her dedicated husband Bernard Holland of Boulder City, NV; sister Gail Hamilton and husband Dan of Alpharetta, GA; son David Lannetti and wife Kamala of Norfolk, VA; daughter Rita Rivard and husband Ross of Byron Center, MI; son Steven Lannetti and wife Susan of Warminster, PA; son Robert Lannetti and wife Margaret of Garnet Valley, PA; step-daughter Elizabeth Holland of Dallas, TX; step-son Michael Holland of State College, PA; 19 grandchildren; and other extended family members and friends, including four loving sisters-in-law and their families in the Philadelphia, PA area.
Joyce was a registered nurse and career caregiver, devoting over 50 years to caring for others, primarily the elderly, where she unselfishly touched the lives of many, including those with whom she worked. She fought the fight, finished the race, and kept her faith. During her final days, she was fortunate to have had the opportunity to say good-bye to many family members and friends. The family wishes to thank the staffs of Boulder City Hospital (Long Term Care) and Nathan Adelson Hospice for their dedication and extraordinary service.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at the Boulder City Hospital (Long Term Care) unit at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Matt Metevelis officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boulder City Hospital (Long Term Care), 901 Adams Boulevard, Boulder City, NV 89005, or the charity of your choice. The family invites you to sign the online memorial guest book at www.bouldercityfamilymortuary.com.
