After a fulfilling life of 81 years, Joyce Newman Lasko, passed away peacefully at her home in Boulder City, Nevada on October 4, 2018. She is now with family and friends who have gone before her. She was born March 14, 1937 in Ogden, Utah. Her parents were Marchant Manning Newman and Edna Belle Irving. Joyce grew up in Ogden, Utah and graduated from Ogden High School in 1955. She attended Weber State College and Utah State University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education. She loved reading books and teaching. Joyce taught 4th grade at Andrew J. Mitchell Elementary School in Boulder City for 20 years before retirement.
Joyce was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was married to Fred Lasko, also from Ogden, in the Logan, Utah Temple on September 12, 1958. Joyce and Fred just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. She is survived by her husband, Fred, three sons, Kevin, Barry, and Michael, brother, Gary, nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. She dearly loved her grandchildren.
A viewing will be held from 11am to noon PST with funeral services at noon on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the LDS Chapel, 916 Fifth St., Boulder City, Nevada. A graveside service and interment will be held on Monday, October 15, 2018 at 11 am MST at the Ogden City Cemetery in Ogden, Utah. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Andrew J. Mitchell Elementary School, c/o Cindy Pratt, 900 Ave. B, Boulder City, NV 89005 or to the foundation of your choice.
