We celebrate the life and memory of June Delora Lovell, age 89. June passed away on March 3, 2023, after struggling for many years with heart problems. She was born to Velma Haley and Walter Gilbert on June 7, 1933, in South Bristol, Maine. She was the second oldest of 7 children.
June graduated high school at Lincoln Academy in Damariscotta, ME. She then attended two years of business college in Boston, MA., where she took secretarial courses. June traveled extensively around the US with her husband, John, who was in the Air Force and spent three years in Germany. She had her 4th child, Tom, while in Germany. June loved children and became a foster parent to share her love.
June worked as a retail clerk at Safeway for many years. After she retired she was able to do the things she loved most: spending time with her grandchildren; volunteering at the Senior Center in Boulder City, Boulder City Hospital gift shop, and Art in the Park; activities with the Red Hat Ladies and her monthly luncheons with her girlfriends. Her hobbies included knitting, sewing, doing puzzles (she did a crossword puzzle daily to keep her mind sharp), and reading. She loved a good book.
June is survived by her daughters, Michele Anderson (Glen) of Gig Harbor, WA, Annette Stoker (Craig) of Henderson, NV, Pamela Guerin of Boulder City, NV, and her sister Jacqueline Prongue of Coca, FL, and brother Dexter Gilbert of W.VA. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
June was preceded in death by her husband, John; her sons Thomas "Tom" and John "Jeep"; her parents, Velma and Walter; her brothers: Rowland, Shannon, and Doug Gilbert; and her sister Valerie Fossett. They are all enjoying a lobster roll together now.
Funeral Services will be held on March 18, 2023 at 11:00 am at the LDS Chapel on 485 Mission Dr., Henderson, NV.
