Kay Gail Shumway of Desert Springs Arizona, formerly of Pleasant Grove, Utah age 80 passed away February 25th, 2024 at his home surrounded by family and friends. Born to Samuel Douglas and Lucial Shoell Shumway on October 19th, 1943 in American Fork, Utah. Kay married Linda Whitaker Shumway on August 9th, 1992 in Las Vegas Nevada.
Kay was raised in Lindon Utah where he loved hiking, hunting, fishing, camping, but his love of cars was legendary. He also raced cars both officially and unofficially. He was an accomplished mechanic who was often sought after though it was not his profession. He had a love for the mountains especially Strawberry and White River. That love continues in his family today.
Kay loved his adventures with Linda, his wife of 32 years. She was his ride or die companion, their adventures included: road trips throughout the West, Cruises, camping and fishing trips and simply spending time with family and friends. Later Linda became his loving and doting caregiver, always fighting for his best interests.
Kay is survived by his wife Linda Shumway and their children: Tim (Desiree) Carson, Jim (Teri) Shumway, Randy (Dana) Carson, Rick (Roxanne) Shumway, Karen (Sinclair) Rowan, Annie (Ron) Sperry, Cindy Clements, 26 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
Kay is preceded in death by his parents Samuel Douglas and Lucial Shumway, Ralph (brother) and Pat Shumway, Donna (Sister) and Pete Caldwell, Neva (Sister) and Ray Freeman, Glade (Brother) and Leone Shumway, and Amy (Daughter-in-law) Shumway.
A Viewing service will be held at Star Mortuary, 300 Riverside Rd, Mesquite, NV 89027 on Wednesday, February 28th, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. We invite family and friends to leave condolences or memories at www.starmortuary.com.
