Kendra Hammonds-Kennedy

July 13, 1977 — January 21, 2012

Kendra Faye Hammonds-Kennedy, age 34, of Las Vegas, NV passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2012 surrounded by the love and care of her children, family and close personal friends.

Her biggest accomplishment and proudest achievement was being the mother (or "Mom-Strosity" as her kids called her) to four beautiful children; Allyssa, 17, Cannon, 15, Ryley, 8, and Gage, 20 months. They were her four truly great loves. Her world was their world. She was "Super Mom" often juggling a busy work schedule to make sure that she was there to cheer her kids on, making every practice, game, dance competition, or whatever and where ever the kids had to go. "Mom always made us feel special, she made the best birthdays for us," said Allyssa. Her son, Cannon had this to say of Kendra, "Mama Bear, You are forever in my heart, I love you and I will always be your nanners. I love you." Kendra also enjoyed her daily FaceTime with Ryley "Pickles" (as Kendra would call her) on her Iphone and loved when her "little man" Gage curled up into her arms.

She was the type of Mom that welcomed all of her children's friends into her home with love and treated them as her own. Kendra's was always the house with lots of food, a crazy amount of laughs and of course the place that every kid in town wanted to hang out. She had more love in her to give to anyone that needed it.

Kendra enjoyed cooking, especially if it involved feeding large groups of her friends and her children's friends. She had a tradition of the world famous "Taco Tuesday" at her house. This involved a process of making the chicken "just right" usually shredding what seemed like 400 lbs. of chicken to feed the army of friends that came to laugh, make fun of one another, telling off color jokes or stories and share in the evening where you never laughed so much in your life.

Throughout her life, Kendra always had a witty comeback or story to tell. She could make good out of bad and could somehow always find the silver lining. She always said, "Why don't I have my own reality show? People would not believe the **** that happens to me!" But behind her sharp whit and endless wise cracks was a heart of pure gold. She truly was one of a kind!

Some little known Kendra fun facts are that she loved "sexy exotic cars" or "car porn" as she called them. She loved anything dealing with the 80's!!!! (You should see some of her pictures... EPIC) She used to be a car model and LoVed beautiful purses, clothes and fashion. STARBUCKS, STARBUCKS, STARBUCKS!!!! (need we say more!!??) She loved anything with cupcakes, including one of her favorite shows "Cupcake Wars!" Kendra was a tiny girl who loved big trucks! She'd always say, "Never mess with a girl in a truck!" Kendra also had a fondness for GLEE, most TLC shows, and anything that had to do with the Food Network. Basically anything where reality TV related, Kendra was on it! Hoarders, Toddler's & Tiara's, My Strange Addiction, Teen Mom, My Big Gypsy Wedding and especially The Sister Wives!!! She even created her own version of "sister wives" with her friends Aunt Travis & Uncle Heather. She could turn any seemingly boring show or event into the funniest things you had ever experienced in your life. Her humor was a brand all her own; sharp, witty, crass, but perfectly timed in even the quickest of moments! She was a rare gift that all of us got to enjoy everyday.

It is no surprise that someone who LIVED BIG and LOVED even BIGGER leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever be in our hearts. Kendra is survived in life by her husband, Shane Kennedy, her children, Allyssa, Cannon, Ryley and Gage. She is also survived by her grandparents Eric & Rosalyn Martin or Orange County, CA, her mother, Leesa Faulkner of Arizona, her sister Jesika Faulkner of CA and her nephew, Baby James. She also leaves behind other special family members, a virtual army of TEAM KENDRA supporters, very close friends whom she considered family and countless people that were touched by Kendra's journey of love and inspiration.

The Kendra Hammonds-Kennedy family wishes to thank all of those who rallied around her when she needed it most. There are so many people who shared and showed unconditional love and it was graciously appreciated. We know Kendra was truly touched and honored at the out pouring of blessings. We will never forget that love.

Family and Friends are invited to share in this extraordinary tribute, "Kendra & Tiara's: Homecoming Edition" on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Central Christian Church, 1000 New Beginnings Drive, Henderson, NV 89011. Main Entry Door #4. The cross streets are Russell & 95.

In True Kendra style, per her wishes, she requests that you be in bright colors and big beautiful hats. Dress up, put on your favorite heals, and glam it up! Red carpet arrivals and photos will begin at 5:30 PM and Kendra's Homecoming Party will start at 6:00 PM. It will certainly be an unforgettable evening as we celebrate her life and love. Kendra always wanted to be the homecoming queen and now she is!

In Lieu of Flowers, (no seriously, Kendra really didn't like them) a memorial contribution in her name can be made directly to the family as her children will need care and support for many years to come.

When talking with her family and friends they said that the things that they will miss the most about Kendra was that she was a pillar of strength who never complained about the cards that life dealt her. She was full of fight (even until the end), filled with life, tenacity, and spunk - always seeming to find a way to make everyone around her feel better. Kendra once said, "Out of dirt comes flowers." If someone needed a smile, a laugh, a witty comeback, a hand to hold or a hug she was there. It was her deeply rooted, strong faith and belief in God's love for everyone that made her who she truly is... ... Our Kendra, Kind of a BIG DEAL!
