Linda Guiffreda-Baker passed away Nov. 12, 2021 after a brief illness. She will be remembered as a most loving and caring person and dedicated art educator. She taught at Monroe High School and Area H Alternative Schools in Los Angeles, and at Durango High School in Las Vegas for a total of 42 years. Her inspired method of teaching has resulted in many of her former students becoming working professional artists, art instructors and art lovers who are located all over the country. Her smile and laughter were contagious. She was born in New Bedford, MA, but was raised in and grew up in Brooklyn, NY, on Strong Place. She and her family moved to Los Angeles in 1955 where she attended high school and later graduated from Cal State Northridge. She later earned a Master’s Degree. She is survived by her loving husband, Chuck N. Baker and their devoted son Nicholas Baker; stepson Tyrone Baker and his wife Michelle; grandsons Jeremy, Jordan and Jack Baker; cousin Marcelina Torres; brother-in-law Sheldon Baker and his wife Karena Dillon; sister-in-law Carla Giuffrida; nephew Mauro Giuffrida; niece Lindsay Giuffrida; cousin Betty Falcone and her husband Dominick; and cousins Sophia, Natasha and Isabella Meehleib. A memorial service prior to the burial will be held on Monday, Nov. 29, at 9:20 a.m., in the chapel at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, NV. A reception will follow at the Boulder City Multipurpose Building.
